GROUP THERAPY
Men’s Group – Men Against Violence
Conflict is sometimes part of daily life… but anger and violence don’t have to be.
Men may experience and express emotions differently in stressful situations. Anger is often what motivates us to solve problems. Misdirected anger and violence, however, can cause great harm, broken relationships and potential legal problems.
In this group you will learn and understand:
- Why conflict happens
- How to manage strong feelings, such as anger and frustration, without giving away your power with anger or violence
- How to more effectively regulate your emotions to enhance your relationships and encourage the respect you wish from others
- How to communicate well in difficult situations without the familiar pattern of frustration and rage
We have witnessed tremendous changes with our men, not just in their abuse behavior, but in their attitudes about achieving respect, empathy and responsibility for themselves and others.
Groups are facilitated by Counseling Center therapist teams who are trained/certified with the LA County Probation Department Domestic Violence Unit.
This program has provided batterers’ intervention services to court-mandated, Department of Children and Family Services and self-referred domestic violence offenders in our community for more than 12 years. All sessions are confidential.
