A Commitment to Caring
From a childhood growing up in Bismarck, North Dakota, to early adulthood in Santa Fe, New Mexico where she moved to be closer to her sister and newborn nephew, Shelly Stee has devoted her life to helping others. In her thriving private practice, Shelly works from a developmental, postmodern perspective as a therapist. She specializes in children, adolescents, and their families, helping clients make sense of personal challenges and lives in transition. Many of her clients are also caregivers from the “sandwich generation,” raising children while also looking after senior family members.
A Phillips Graduate Institute graduate herself and a longtime faculty member, Ms. Stee helms the Master of Marriage and Family Therapy department as MFT Site Director. Her teaching style encompasses the three-prong Phillips’ MFT degree approach to learning that has cemented the school’s reputation for academic excellence, emphasizing experiential skills training and personal psychotherapeutic growth for all of her students, in addition to traditional academics.
Shelly is known for her compassion not only for her clients but also for the students she teaches and supervises. She describes her career at the Los Angeles Education Center of Campbellsville University as one that brings her much joy, as she watches graduate students blossom into seasoned clinicians who are able to see the positive, enduring potential in each person with whom they come in contact.
