Dr. Malek began his counseling career as a paraprofessional counselor at the San Fernando Valley Counseling Center in 1991 and graduated from California Family Study Center with a Master’s in Marriage and Family Counseling in 1994.  He worked as a Children’s Social Worker for Los Angeles County from that year to 2004 and received his MFCC license in 1999.  He returned to Phillips Graduate Institute in 2004 to receive his PsyD in Clinical Psychology in 2007 and his Psychologist license in 2011.

In addition to his continuing private counseling practice starting in 1999, and several internships and practicums, he has worked for Reiss-Davis Child Study Center and Hathaway-Sycamores Child and Family Center as an Assessment Psychologist.  He has taught many classes for the Masters and Doctorate programs at Phillips Graduate Institute, the University of Phoenix, and the Chicago School of Professional Psychology in Los Angeles since 2009.

All of this, as part of a second career, started at the age of 40.
